Scott Hanoian is a brilliant rising star in the organ world. Formerly he was the Assistant Organist and Assistant Director of Music at Washington National Cathedral. He has recently been appointed to the position of Director of Music and Organist at Christ Episcopal Church in Grosse Pointe, Michigan.
While at Washington National Cathedral he recorded the complete organ works of the, Romanticist-Classicist composer, Johannes Brahms on the Cathedral’s instrument. This music is intelligently played by Mr. Hanoian in a symphonic manner, using all of the color possibilities the instrument has to offer.
The booklet comes with excellent music notes, a full stop list and an interview with Scott about his career as a professional musician. This disc is highly recommended.
JOHANNES BRAHMS (1833-1897)
Eleven Chorale Preludes, Op. 122
Mein Jesu, der du mich
Herzliebster Jesu
O Welt, ich muss dich lassen
Herzlich tut mich erfreuen
Schmücke dich, o liebe Seele
O wie selig seid ihr doch, ihr Frommen
O Gott, du frommer Gott
Es ist ein Ros’ entsprungen
Herzlich tut mich verlangen
Herzlich tut mich verlangen
O Welt, ich muss dich lassen
