A recording of the magnificent Skinner organ at St. Luke's Church in Evanston, Illinois. Ken Cowan, a member of the organ faculty at Westminter Choir College, Princeton, New Jersey, and Associate Organist at St. Bartholomew's Church in New York City, is at the forefront of orchestral organ playing in America, and this disc displays the versatility of his talents brilliantly. Featured are transcriptions of works Liszt and Wagner – including the famous Ride of the Valkyries and original organ compositions by Widor, Wesley and Saint-Saens. The disc concludes with Karg-Elert's large-scale Symphonic Chorale on Jesu, Meine Freude. Informative articles on the music and on the making of the recording itself are provided by Mr. Cowan, as are numerous photos.
